Membership Assistance Grants

Program Purpose

The purpose of MAP is to provide financial assistance to the membership organizations of Basketball Saskatchewan Inc. (BSI) to assist in the development of basketball as a healthy lifestyle choice for all ages.  Funding to support MAP is provided through the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund and derived from the sale of lottery tickets in Saskatchewan.

Program Goals

  • Provide affordable opportunities for all ages in rural and urban to participate in basketball leagues, programs and clinics.

  • Develop a broad participation and competitive base at all ages.

  • Ensure an equal opportunity for all people rich or poor, male or female, young or old, and of all ethnic backgrounds to participate in basketball programs.

Eligibility

All member organizations who are in good standing with BSI for our current year are eligible to receive funding assistance. Follow the steps below to see how!

Step 1: Apply for BSI Membership by May 1st to be eligible for the MAP grant.

Step 2: You will receive an email confirmation that your membership application has been approved, which automatically enters you into consideration for MAP funding.

Step 3: You will be notified after June 1st about the MAP grant amount that you’re eligible to receive.

Step 4: After you are notified of your amount, you will fill out a MAP Follow Up Report, complete with all verified receipts and then submit it to the BSI office.

50/50 Fundraiser

BSI will be operating a provincial wide 50/50 fundraiser event in the spring of 2024, where member organizations can participate to fundraise for themselves as well. Stay tuned for more details!

Coach and Officials Development Grants
BSI and SaskSport partner to provide access to development grants for coaches and officials to offset the cost for educational opportunities.

Canada Basketball UNIFIED Program
In reflection of Canada Basketball’s UNIFIED 2024 commitments, the CBF prioritizes the support of nonprofit programs and initiatives that help keep Canadian sport spaces a safe one, which welcome all generations, ethnicities, religions, identities, and abilities.
The CBF supports groups whose priorities, include developing inclusive and equitable opportunities for youth through sport, with a focus on increasing access for underserved, under-represented or historically racialized communities

KidSport Financial Assistance Program
Funding program for youth athletes involved in programs that are a minimum of 6 weeks in length

BSI Financial Assistance Program
Funding program for athletes involved in BSI high performance programs (fall training and provincial team)
